For Boosters and Friends of the PHS Red Pride Marching Band SATURDAY: QUAKER DAY PARADE & FRANKLIN CENTRAL CONTEST The PHS Red Pride Marching Band marches in the annual Quaker Day Parade down U.S. 40 on Saturday. Students will dress for the parade at 8:30 a.m. and board buses at 9:15. The parade steps off at 10 a.m. and ends in Franklin Park. Students will be bused back to the high school and dismissed to eat lunch. Students are expected to be back at the high school by 1 p.m. for a full rehearsal. They’ll need to bring a sack dinner with them. Parents (including you?) will help us load the trailer at 3:30, and the band will depart for Franklin Central High School. Class B competition will begin around 7:13 p.m., and we’re expected to take the field at about 7:52. Tickets should be $5.00 for adults, students, and senior citizens. The awards program will take place about 10:00 p.m., and we’ll leave for Plainfield at about 10:30. We should arrive about 11:30 and will need everyone’s help to unload the trailer. (Please help the band members focus by giving them some space. The first contest of the season is always chaotic, and interruptions from parents – however friendly and well-intentioned –only compound the chaos. You’ll be able to visit with the kids after their performance. Thanks for your cooperation!) Students will need:
DIRECTIONS TO FRANKLIN CENTRAL HIGH SCHOOL Take I-70 east to the I-465 south exit (right lane). Take I-465 to I-65 south (right lane). Take I-65 to the Southport Road exit. Driving time about 35 minutes. RED PRIDE MARCHING FESTIVAL – SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 17 - Eight bands will perform, among them Brownsburg, Terre Haute South, Jasper, Greenwood and New Castle. - Each family is being asked to donate a 24-pack of bottled water or a cola product – and we'll collect those donations during the week of practice. Please also bring a cooler with a bag of ice on the day of the festival. - Please plan to stick around after the festival to help with cleanup. All the band members will help with cleanup at the end of the night, and will not be dismissed until their areas pass inspection. The more parents that help, the sooner everyone goes home! - Participants and volunteers should park in Swinford Park so there's plenty of room for spectator parking at the high school. WE NEED EVERYONE’S HELP – AND THAT INCLUDES YOU! If you haven’t already volunteered to help at the festival, contact chairpersons Toby Shutters (tshutters@yahoo.com, 837-8954) or Suzanne Kamel-Mohamed (skamel@clarian.org, 839-1704), or call any of our committee chairs: Information Tent Abigail Baker 839-8160 Video Jim Kidd 839-2252 Judges Val Walker 838-0430 Guides Bob/Jeanne Milligan 839-7328 Tickets Lori Morrison 839-8223 Field Timer Ken Walker 838-0430 Hospitality Room Laura Maxwell 839-5593 Warm Up Timer John & Peggy Seprodi 839-5133 Bus Drivers Hospitality Room Daisa Bedwell 838-5201 Entrance Gate Dan Morrison 838-8223 Bus Parking Jim Exner 839-8342 Spectator Parking Ken Thompson 839-1654 Concession Janice Kidwell 839-6911 Water Table Claudia Sproull (PHS Octagon Club) 839-7711 Signs Kathy Baker 838-0681 Critique Room Kurt Baker 839-8160 FUNDRAISING UPDATE In addition to the official band fundraisers – the Fall pizza sale, Winter cheese sale, and Spring Biomat sale – the Band Boosters are holding several fundraisers of our own.
