PHS BAND BOOSTER BLAST

For Boosters and Friends of the PHS Red Pride Marching Band

August 19, 2005

Visit http://PlainfieldBands.org for the most up-to-date information (updated daily).

 SEE US PERFORM TONIGHT

The PHS Red Pride Marching Band will perform the school song, national anthem, and part of the current show at Friday evening’s football game against Danville. The game begins at 7 p.m. We need pit crew members to help move equipment at 6:45 and halftime, so if you can make it, please join us! (The Band Boosters are serving the kids pizza before the game.)

MINI CAMP IS SATURDAY, AUG. 20

Band and guard members will learn the next two productions for this season’s show at Saturday’s Mini Camp. They need to be ready to rehearse at 9 a.m. and will be dismissed around 4 p.m. Be sure to bring a sack lunch! The Band Boosters will serve free lemonade and cookies to students and their parents at 3:30, so stop by and say hello.

 ANNUAL PIZZA SALE UNDERWAY

This week, students received brochures and sales forms for the annual Pizza Sale fundraiser. In past years, we’ve had great success selling delicious pizzas, desserts and cookie dough from Club’s Choice Fundraising. We use the profits for band equipment and related needs.

Order forms must be turned in by Monday, August 29, and all items will be delivered to the PHS Band Room on Thursday, September 8 at 2:45 p.m. Band members don’t have to collect payments (checks payable to Plainfield HS Band) until products are delivered.

There will be a couple great incentives. First, students who sell 15 items or more will be entered in a drawing for one of three $25 cash prizes. The top seller of all will win a digital binocular camera. We’ll also have a team competition, with the winning team earning a dinner. Your student has all the details.

 KNOW HOW A WRENCH WORKS?

We’re having a work day for pit carts and the semi-trailer on Saturday, August 27 from about 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Email Ken Thompson at kthompson2@indy.rr.com if you can attend.

 MAKE A BUS DRIVER’S DAY

If you want to help at the September 17 Band Festival and don't already have an assigned job, the Bus Driver Hospitality Room needs you! Please contact Glenda Thompson, 839-1654, for details. Or contact chairpersons Toby Shutters (tshutters@yahoo.com, 837-8954) or Suzanne Kamel-Mohamed (skamel@clarian.org, 839-1704) to learn other ways you can help.

 WE NEED DONATIONS

If you can donate one or more of the following, you’ll help the band and earn our appreciation. You or your band student may drop them off in the band room. Thanks for your support!
