2006 Band Sponsor Letter

Parents and Boosters, we should be proud!  What a great year it's been for all the Plainfield Bands. It's with this enthusiasm and momentum we look to the 2006/2007 year to prove to be just as exciting and rewarding as the last.  The 28th annual Red Pride Marching Band Festival will be a kick off event in which we all can participate and be a part of the success.  The Festival is a Fundraiser.....a very big Fundraiser.  Sponsors defray large portions of the expenses surrounding the Festival.  This allows a much larger portion of the monies generated by the Festival to go towards the Band's many endeavors throughout the year.  Attached please find a copy of out current Letter sent to various community businesses requesting their participation. Perhaps your place of employment or organization may be able to participate also. All it requires is to print a copy from the link and present to the powers to be along with your best Band Story.  You'll probably be surprised with how many of your bosses have a Band Story of their own!

Trash Bag Sale

Trash Bag – This fall the Plainfield Red Pride Boosters are selling trash bags to help raise funds for the high school band.  We’ve decided to take a direct sales approach and if the response is good we’ll take additional orders for another shipment.  Because of certain restrictions put on school organizations, we will not be able to get the students as involved as they might be in the pizza sales and others that come home from the school.  For this reason, this project will need to be parent driven.  Our plans are to set-up booths at all the home football games, the Band Festival in September, school concerts, word-of-mouth orders, etc.  This is a continual fund raising drive so rolls will be available at any time.  If you have any questions or need bags please contact Bill Bloom (839-4806: bloomacres@juno.com ) or Randi Brinker (838-7569; rbrinker@kingswayschool.org ).  Order forms are available on the band website or by contacting Bill or Randi.

 Start planning now to tell your friends, neighbors, co-workers and family about this great deal.  With fall being just around the corner this is a perfect time to sell and buy trash bags. 

 

WHAT’S THE FUNDRAISING COMMITTEE UP TO?

In addition to offering a lot of moral support, the Band Boosters provides substantial financial support to the PHS band program.

We’re always looking for great ideas, and this year’s Fundraising Committee has hit on a very creative one: making ID bracelets! Committee Chair Tina Wheeler makes jewelry as a hobby and is looking for some parents who want to help the band and learn a new hobby at the same time.

The bracelets will be in PHS colors with letters that spell out "PHS BAND," and she hopes to have 100 ready for the Marching Band Festival. She says that the materials cost between $3 and $4, and plans to sell the bracelets for $8 each. Tina is also planning to have a signup at the Festival for personalized items, and will bring samples to the August 23 meeting.
